Your maternity session is an opportunity to create a vibrant reminder of growing your child under your heart. The deep beauty of pregancy is ours as women alone, and that powerful, divine-given role has not lost it's magic after ages of belly-bumps. In fact, quite the contrary. Maternity imagery has grown to be more commonplace, as we recognize the gift of recording this beautiful experience.
Your session is all about capturing your beauty and connection with your unborn child. Some clients like to pamper themselves a little with professional hair and make-up prior to the session, so that they feel their very best for images.
Your maternity session is an opportunity for you to capture the glory of your pregnancy, connection with your spouse, and your changing family. You may love the idea of basking in on-location back-lit golden-hour shots, or the privacy of a stylized studio-session. Regardless, your session will focus on accentuating your personal strength and beauty in your motherhood journey.
Your Newborn Experience
You've dreamed and planned. You've read all the books and carefully selected color schemes and nursury furniture. The date of their arrival seems to both drag on, and yet somehow arrives quickly. You want to capture them in their absolute newness. You want to remember every detail of those squishy cheeks and tiny toes. Your heart now exists outside of your chest, and this thing called parenthood has you elated and a little overwhelmed all at the same time.
Before your session, you will relay your personal style, dreams and decor, so that the session is tailored just for your newborn. On session day, you will be welcomed into our homey setting, to relax, (or catch a few coveted moments of sleep on the couch), while the details of your most precious newborn are captured in simple, beautiful, classic art. Your baby's safety will be priority number one, as they are posed and guided through our baby-led posing flow. (Fair warning mommas, your heart may feel like it's going to explode, when you see your sweet little one tucked into those curly positions that reflect their time carried right under that heart.)
During your newborn's session, you can browse wall art options, portfolio prints, and albums to consider which keepsakes will work best for your home. A few weeks, months and years down the road, that art displayed in your home, will serve as a precious reminder of this fleeting and beautiful season of new life.
Your Baby is Growing
How quickly they grow. With your first baby, it often seems like you await every single milestone with intense eagerness. You've read all the books, you've chatted with other mommas, and you've googled about every single stage your baby will reach.
With subsequent children, you may instead wish you had a remote control for life, and could just push the pause button. While no less exciting when those milestones occur, there is a deep-seated knowledge that the first year is really just a blink. The days were often long, but the year was very, very short year in hindsight. All of those sweet smirks, funny crawls, and tentative steps, that you are sure will remain imbedded in your memory forever, get a little blury with time and life. A visual reminder though, a little video or a portrait, can trigger memories that can be savored again and again. While those phone captures are still treasures, you may want to have some beautifully captured tangible memories to hold on to for the future.
Milestone sessions can be scheduled as a portrait session for your little one in any increment you desire. If you just want to capture their 1/2 birthday and their first year, you may want to get portrait sessions on the calendar even as early as following their newborn session, so time doesn't get away from you. Capturing those big jumps of developmental change in the first year, from newborn to sitter to standing, is a fun way to show their growth.
Our Baby Plan gives you the option of 4 sessions to capture the little changes, as your baby grows. You may choose more traditional milestones, such as 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, or you may want to document your baby’s growth at 6 months, and then annually on their birthdays. It’s up to you how to use your 4 Baby Plan Sessions. In the traditional plan, you will walk away with a a beautiful album of your baby's first year, to revisit every time you want to walk through those memories (often with a preschooler in your lap, or grade-schooler by your side, fascinated by what they were like as a baby). If you chose non-traditional milestones, your album will be created at the end of your 4 sessions. Another bonus, with the Baby Plan-Grandma can have a mini-album that is exactly like yours. Sure win!
